Caprese Salad

(mozzarella cheese and tomato salad)

Ingredients:

  • 4 tomatoes - about 1 lb (450 gr), firm and not too ripe
  • 1/2 lb (200 gr) fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 8 basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 - 4 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

Preparation:

  • Slice tomatoes and mozzarella 1/4-inch (5 mm) thick.
  • Alternate tomato and cheese slices in a plate.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper and top with the olive oil.
  • Crush the basil leaves in two-three pieces with your fingers and place on top of the tomatoes.
